Much is being brought up these days on this very important topic. We think it's important others gain some insight into the Why?
Suicidal Ideation and depression can occur in the aftermath of trauma. They are the result of emotional distress that can be measured based on: the severity, frequency, duration of symptoms, and the degree to which they interfere with functioning in our life activities like work and our personal life. Emotional distress and pain can cause depression, anxiety, and intrusive thoughts that becomes incessant, and panic. Suicide ideation can occur after a female or male has been raped or sexually abused. Distorted thinking can occur; a sense of complicity in the abuse of oneself; a sense of guilt. Perhaps the most intense feelings is the sense of feeling dirty, or "not clean" when one has been sexually molested or raped. Suicidal ideation takes on very serious dimensions when the person has a specific plan and /or even draws up and leaves a farewell note. If that person begins giving away their personal things, it could be one of the first signs of an imminent plan to take one’s own life. It's important we stay vigilant to these signs and make sure those suffering are provided the help they need.
