If you are a heterosexual male who watches a lot of pornography and masturbates, you might also begin to suffer from porn-induced Erectile Dysfunction (PIED). Males as young as 10 or younger are starting to view pornography more and more frequently and more intensely. There is a growing population of males who are addicted to porn viewing.
These are the same males that the actual touching, feeling, and all the sensations associated with making love and having sex with a female partner, feels overwhelming for them. Twenty-Three Percent of males who watch a lot of porn also have PIED. Porn-induced erectile dysfunction is not a physical ailment. It is psychological and connected to heavy porn use.
This porn use also leads to another disorder called Intimacy Disorder. That means that these males can no longer feel or display intimacy with a real human female. The psychological fallout of male porn viewing is not just for the male who watches a lot of pornography. It is often very traumatic and quite devastating to his female partner/wife with whom he’s in a committed relationship. The woman must then be treated for Betrayal Trauma and, if she has had historical trauma in her younger life, it becomes even more devastating for her because it triggers the trauma of her past. These couples in a committed relationship must then be treated for the betrayal and trauma caused by the porn viewing male partner, and the cybersex addiction that the male suffers from. It’s best to consult a trained addiction and clinical sexology specialist for individual and couple’s therapy.
