Sexual addiction or sex addiction is the same thing and means that there is a COMPULSIVE uncontrollable need to engage in sexual, or sexually-related activities. The person cannot control his/her sexual urges, behaviors, or thoughts. This includes activities between heterosexual, bisexual, same-sex, transgender people; or even with yourself. The important thing to remember is that this something you can’t control.
There are different kinds of sexual addictions and disorders:
- There is cybersex-porn addiction which is a growing addiction today
- The hypersexuality of nymphomania (female hypersexuality) and satyriasis (male hypersexuality)
- Erotomania (usually a female who believes that a male of higher status is in love with her)
- Don Juanism (female-chasing male) or Don Juanitaism (male-chasing females)
- Paraphilia-related disorders which are persistent sexual interests usually not involving the genitals which can be erotic targets such as spanking, whipping cutting, binding, strangulating that does NOT HAVE a consenting partner. This does not involve the KINK people who INSIST on making certain that those involved CONSENT to the activities
- The deviant interest in children (pedofilia), corpses, amputees, non-human animals (horses or dogs for example), or inanimate objects such as shoes or articles made of rubber
- Voyeuristic Disorder which is sexual arousal from the observation of an unsuspecting or unaware person who is naked, in the process of disrobing or engaging in sexual activity
- Exhibitionistic Disorder is sexual arousal by exposing one’s genitals to prepubertal children, mature individuals, or anyone
- Frotteuristic Disorder in which the person experiences intense arousal by touching or rubbing against a non-consenting person as manifested by fantasies, urges or behaviors.
- Sexual Masochism Disorder in which gets sexual arousal from being humiliated, beaten, bound, or to suffering in some form.
- Sexual Sadism Disorder in which a psychopathological person performs violent sexual acts on a nonconsenting person.
- Pedophilic Disorder in which an adult performs sexual acts either passively or actively on prepubescent children usually ages 13 and younger.
